LEZ   Power Trap   The Concept   How it Works

Low Emission Zone

The Low Emission Zone enforced by Transport for London came into effect on March 1st 2008. Traffic entering the zone - or operating within the zone - is screened using number-plate recognition technology. All HGV's over 12 tonnes must be registered with VOSA as meeting the Euro 3 emissions standard or they will automatically be charged £200. From July 1st 2008, the same LEZ constraints will be applied to light commercial vehicles, buses and coaches of 3.5 tonnes and above.
